Mi Tang is currently investigating how plants react to environmental pollutants on a cellular level, as part of a PhD at the University of Otago.
Originally from China, Mi is passionate about environmental quality and its impact on crop production.
Her research, carried out in conjunction with AbacusBio, hopes to explore the potential of breeding and management strategies to improve plants’ resistance to pollutant uptake, and consequently reducing the entry of contaminants into the food supply chain.
Her focus within AbacusBio is:
- Plant breeding
- Genetic trait evaluation and improvement
- Breeding programme design
