Desired Gains allows a breeder or breeding strategist to explore
the opportunities and consequences of genetic selection strategies in their animals.
This simple-to-operate program provides a visual, real-time, interactive view of
the consequences to the direction of genetic progress in the breeders own group
of animals.
Breeding value data for a cohort of selection
candidates is quickly entered using an internal data import wizard. The generic
example below shows performance traits and a comparison bar that measures economic
gains relative to a selected index.
In the visual (click on picture
to open large version) moving a trait slider to a desired position affects
the slider position of the other traits (using their trait correlations) and
shows the potential economic gain from the chosen strategy relative to the
index (indicated by the large bar).
